The Original Glove
About Mechanix Wear
Mechanix Wear was founded in 1991 by Michael Hale in Valencia, California, to solve a specific problem: NASCAR pit crews needed hands protected from 800-degree engine parts without losing the feel required to seat a lug nut. The answer was a thin synthetic-leather palm in a form-fitting glove, and it debuted at the 1991 Daytona 500 on the Richard Childress Racing pit crew. Thirty-five years later that same silhouette is standard issue across industry, the military and the trades.
The Original remains the benchmark for dexterity-first work. M-Pact adds a TPR knuckle guard against back-of-hand impact and XRD padding in the palm to absorb impact and vibration — the range that matters most in oil and gas, plant and demolition, where crush and pinch injuries dominate. FastFit strips the closure for jobs where gloves come on and off constantly, and Vent adds airflow for hot work.
Impact protection is the fastest-growing area of hand protection and one of the few where the glove genuinely prevents the common injury rather than just satisfying an audit. We supply Mechanix Wear to engineering, plant and machinery, automotive, utilities and construction clients across Scotland.
There are currently 16 products from Mechanix Wear in the catalogue, covering hand protection, ppe, mechanics and general handling, from £4.95 ex VAT. Everything is available on business terms, with trade pricing that improves with volume. Orders over £150 ex VAT are delivered free, and most stocked lines dispatch for next-day delivery.
