About Howard Leight
Howard Leight has spent decades making earplugs people will actually keep in. Its polyurethane foam plugs are among the most widely used in the world, and the reason is fit: the taper and the recovery rate of the foam decide whether a plug seals properly or works loose over a shift. Long sold as "Howard Leight by Honeywell", the brand moved to Protective Industrial Products (PIP) when Honeywell sold its PPE business in May 2025, so you will see both names on packaging for a while.
Our Howard Leight range is earplugs: Laser Lite, the magenta-and-yellow plug that lets a supervisor see at a glance who is wearing protection; Max and Max Lite, the latter for smaller ear canals; corded and uncorded versions; reusable plugs including Quiet, Smartfit and Airsoft; detectable corded plugs (Laser Trak and Smartfit Detectable) for food and pharmaceutical production; and LS400 and LS500 dispenser refill packs.

- Both are tapered foam earplugs; Max Lite uses a lower-pressure foam in a smaller size, designed for wearers with smaller ear canals.
- Are detectable earplugs available?
- Yes — Laser Trak and Smartfit Detectable corded plugs are made for food and pharmaceutical production, where a lost plug must be found by metal detection.
- Is Howard Leight still part of Honeywell?
- No. Honeywell sold its PPE business, including Howard Leight, to Protective Industrial Products (PIP) in May 2025. Some packaging still carries the Honeywell name during the changeover.
