About Mapa

MAPA was founded in 1948 when Robert Marret and Jean Paturel opened their first factory at Villiers-le-Bel near Paris — the name is a contraction of MArret and PAturel — and produced the first natural latex glove dipped on a hand-shaped former. The industrial division followed in 1978 and the Mapa Professional brand in 1988. Following the Hutchinson merger in 1973 and the Jarden acquisition of MAPA Spontex in 2010, the brand is today part of Newell Brands.

Mapa Professional is a chemical protection specialist rather than a general glove brand. The range covers nitrile, neoprene, butyl, PVC and natural latex gauntlets in a variety of lengths and linings, with published EN 374 permeation breakthrough times per chemical family — the data you actually need to justify a glove choice in a COSHH assessment. There are also thermal, food-contact and precision-handling lines.

When a client tells us what chemical they are handling rather than just asking for chemical gloves, Mapa is usually where we land — the permeation data is thorough and the length and lining options mean you can match the glove to the immersion depth. Common in chemical processing, laboratories, food production, agriculture and industrial cleaning across Scotland.

There are currently 6 products from Mapa in the catalogue, covering hand protection, ppe, cut resistant and mechanics, from £5.90 ex VAT. Everything is available on business terms, with trade pricing that improves with volume. Orders over £150 ex VAT are delivered free, and most stocked lines dispatch for next-day delivery.
