About Dupont
DuPont was established in 1802, and its Tyvek fabric — flash-spun high-density polyethylene — has long been the reference material for disposable coveralls: a barrier to fine particles that still lets air and water vapour through.
Our DuPont range runs from particle protection to chemical suits. The Tyvek 500 Xpert is the everyday Type 5-B/6-B coverall for dust, fibres and light splash, and the Tyvek 500 Hi-Vis adds fluorescent orange and reflective bands to EN ISO 20471 Class 3. The Tyvek 600 Plus steps up to Type 4-B for liquid spray. For chemical work, the Tychem 2000 C and Tychem 6000 F are Type 3-B liquid-jet suits with published permeation data. The Easysafe is a lower-cost Type 5/6 coverall. Most carry EN 1149-5 antistatic and EN 1073-2 radioactive-particle ratings, and the Tyvek and Tychem suits are rated to EN 14126 for infective agents.
The Type number is where buyers most often go wrong: a Type 5/6 suit is not a chemical suit. Match the Type to the hazard in your risk assessment, and for chemicals check the permeation data for the substance you handle. See also our disposable PPE.

- What is the difference between Tyvek and Tychem?
- Tyvek coveralls protect against particles and light liquid spray or splash (Type 4, 5 and 6). Tychem is the chemical range, up to Type 3 liquid-jet protection, with permeation data published per chemical.
- Is a Tyvek 500 suit suitable for chemicals?
- Only for light splash — Tyvek 500 is Type 5/6. Chemical work needs a Type 3 or Type 4 suit such as Tychem, chosen against the permeation data for your substance.
