Choosing hi-vis jackets
Sleeved hi-vis jackets are the simplest way to give someone Class 3 protection on its own, and most of the jackets here are certified to EN ISO 20471 Class 3 — the level needed near fast-moving traffic and on rail.
Match the jacket to the weather your team actually works in. A breathable, waterproof shell suits active work in rain; padded and fleece-lined bombers and parkas suit static or cold work; 4-in-1 and zip-out-liner jackets cover the whole year with one purchase. GORE-TEX® Jackets are the top end for waterproofing and breathability.
For rail work choose orange garments to RIS-3279-TOM, and where there is a risk of flash fire or electric arc, choose flame-retardant hi-vis rather than standard polyester, which can melt.
What to look for
- Class 3 near fast traffic and on rail
- Waterproof and breathable for active work; padded for static or cold work
- RIS-3279-TOM (orange) for rail; FR or arc-rated where there is a flash or arc risk
- Check washing instructions — reflective tape degrades with the wrong wash
