Choosing softshell jackets
A softshell is a stretchy, wind-resistant jacket with a soft inner face — warmer and more breathable than a fleece, and smarter than most waterproofs. This range comes from Stormtech, Orbit International, Regatta Professional, Nimbus, ProRTX and Tee Jays, including women’s fits and thermal and lightweight versions.
Most softshells are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof: they shrug off showers, but for heavy, prolonged rain wear a waterproof shell over the top or choose a certified waterproof. Look at the fabric build — 3-layer softshells with a membrane, like the Regatta Octagon II, give the best balance of warmth, wind protection and breathability.
Softshells are one of the best garments for branding: the smooth face takes a clean embroidered or printed logo, which makes them a favourite for client-facing, facilities and field teams. Stock styles have no minimum order.
