About Centurion
Centurion Safety Products has been in head protection since 1878, which makes it one of the oldest continuously operating safety manufacturers in Britain. It won its first government contract in 1900 making pith helmets for the army; the publicity took it into hard hats for mines and shipyards, and by the 1930s its Hard Hat was worn by thousands of miners. The company moved from pulp to plastic moulding and renamed itself Thetford Moulded Products in 1964, and still operates from Howlett Way in Thetford, Norfolk.
Today the focus is complete head protection systems rather than helmets in isolation: industrial safety helmets to EN 397, climbing-style helmets with four-point chinstraps to EN 12492, electrically insulating helmets to EN 50365, vented and non-vented shells, bump caps, and the accessory ecosystem — visors, ear defenders, chin straps, sweatbands and winter liners — that turns a shell into a specified system.
Head protection is the category where compatibility trips people up: a helmet, a visor and ear defenders from three different brands are not necessarily a certified combination. Centurion's system approach avoids that, which is why it is a common specification on construction, utilities, rail and heavy industry sites across Scotland.
There are currently 30 products from Centurion in the catalogue, covering head protection, helmets and ppe, from £1.73 ex VAT. Everything is available on business terms, with trade pricing that improves with volume. Orders over £150 ex VAT are delivered free, and most stocked lines dispatch for fast delivery.
