Why is it only Class 1?
Class 1 is the class for leg wear on its own. Wear it with the Class 3 Velocity jacket where your site requires Class 3.
Is it rail approved?
The orange style, GP2SALR, is certified to RIS-3279-TOM Issue 2.
Is it the same fabric as the Velocity jacket?
Yes. Both are Arc Rated GORE-TEX® PYRAD® Garments with the same arc and flame certifications.

The Altitude completes the arc-rated GORE-TEX® PYRAD® suit with the Velocity jacket. It is for network, substation, rail electrification and energy teams whose legs need flame and arc protection as well as waterproofing.
It uses the same fabric as the jacket: a 2-layer GORE-TEX® laminate with GORE-TEX® PYRAD® Fabric Technology, with a 50% aramid, 50% viscose lining. Its certifications match:
- EN 61482-2 arc protection (APC 2, ATPV 48 cal/cm², ELIM 42 cal/cm²)
- EN ISO 11612 heat and flame (A1, A2, B2, C1, D3, E1, F1)
- EN ISO 11611 Class 2
- EN 1149-5 antistatic
- EN 13034 Type 6
- EN 343 4:3:R
It is hi-vis to EN ISO 20471 Class 1. The orange style (GP2SALR) is also certified to RIS-3279-TOM Issue 2.
It has adjustable shoulder braces, an elasticated waistband, combat-style leg pockets and zipped ankles with an internal storm flap, plus hi-vis bands on the lower leg.
What it isn't: Class 1 is the hi-vis level for leg wear on its own. Where Class 3 is required, wear it with the Velocity jacket. As with any arc-rated garment, check the ATPV against your arc-flash risk assessment.
